I LOVE taking pictures but I REALLY love teaching others how to create stunning images (Fun Fact: I went to school for education!) January 12th 1-3pm - This workshop is an in person interactive workshop that teaches the fundamentals of your camera and shooting in manual mode. The only requirement is that you have a digital camera that is able to shoot in manual mode (any interchangeable lens camera) No prior photography knowledge is required. I will walk through what parts of the camera are called, where buttons are, how to set up your camera, and then I'll teach you how to understand photography and light so that you are prepared for any lighting situation. We will focus on the technical aspects of photography, which will enable you to understand how your camera and light interact. This class does not cover posing, flash, or post processing. We simply focus on building a solid foundation. You will be able to get out of auto mode and in to manual mode where you are in control.

In 2009, I got my first remote control helicopter… it was all downhill from there. In 2013 I built a custom helicopter and hot glued a camera to it and took my first aerial photo. Later that year, I bought my first quadcopter and fell in love with how easy to fly and stable it was. In 2014 I built a HUGE hexicopter and programed my first autonomous “missions.” The following year, I built and programed a smaller drone and in 2017 I bought a DJI Mavic Pro because it is so portable and the software is not as buggy as my custom creations.
Just like all my photo courses, you will learn to fly by doing it. You will start flying on a simulator after you learn the parts and terms and we will end the class with you feeling comfortable and confidant flying a real DJI drone. You do not have to have your own drone but you are more than welcome to bring it if you have it. Over the past few years, I have seen a common theme from both experienced photographers and those just starting out, FLASH! There are so many super talented photographers that are so intimidated by flash! That is why I decided to teach the Light Your Love workshop!!
The mission is simple, to teach photographers how to effectively use flash during weddings. My lighting workshop will help photographers gain confidence and understanding of on AND off camera flash. I’ll show you how to effectively use flash to light receptions, nighttime portraits, and the rest of the wedding day. Besides photography, being an entrepreneur is one of my favorite things. Rather it is crunching the numbers, planning a new workshop, or meeting with new clients, I love it all! These sessions can be about ANYTHING! Maybe you struggle when shooting dark receptions and need to know how to use off camera flash, but you also want to ask about liability insurance… we can totally do that! We can spend half the day on shooting details, and the other half on the customer experience and effective client communication. It is up to you! During this in person class, we will take black and white film, develop it, and enlarge some frames onto 8.5x11 prints all without ever viewing a digital screen. Out Of Auto is an online photography class that teaches photographers how to capture the images they envision using manual mode on their camera. I made this class when I saw how frustrated photographers were getting because they were shooting in Auto mode or aperture priority and they were not getting the images they wanted. Shooting in manual mode gives you full control over the exposure of the image. You can control blur, depth of field, noise, and of course how bright or dark the image is. Played straight through, the class is about an hour but will take at least 2 hours to complete. No prior photography knowledge is required but you must have a camera that is able to shoot in manual mode. I am confident that even experienced photographers will benefit from the class!
